CD Reviews
Menno de Jong - Intuition Sessions 1

(4 out of 5 stars)
"At my time of writing this, there is only one other review for this double-disc on Amazon. So Menno de Jong is clearly unknown, which is unfortunate.
His first release, Intuition Sessions Vol 1 South Africa, is really good trance. This is upbeat, fast, dance-able trance/ techno. There are hardly any lyrics in the mix, which can be a good thing or a bad thing given the music. Luckily Menno's mix is very solid.
Intuition Sessions frequently gets close to, and definitely borders on epic trance - that sort of mind-blowing, wow, I can't believe this stuff status. But at the same time, it still sounds like it could be trance from 10 years ago - it's a real throwback at the same time that it's modern (if that makes any sense).
Disc 2 is a back catalog of songs from the Intuition label. The first guy Jonas Steur is great epic stuff - it makes me want to search out more of his stuff. Other than that, the rest is pretty good too, but unmixed.
Overall, Intuition Sessions 1 is a very good debut trance mix by a Dutch up-and-comer. Hopefully he'll get more well known and you can say you heard him first. Worth picking up!"

"My guess is that there isnt a lot of people out there who know who Menno de Jong is. But I suspect that after you hear this mix you will follow him more closely. The Intuition Sessions Volume 1 : South Africa is his first mix compliation and I have to say that it's very good. I've folled his work as he has produced several songs for some top notch DJ's and he is a regular on the Inuition Sessions that can be heard thru Itunes. This mix has two cd's when it really is just 1 because the second disc is just a couple of songs that have been remixed into 2 to 3 different versions.
Some of the tracks that really stood out on the 1st disc was Myth "Sjamaan" and Menno de Jong's own "Nolthando". The mixing is right on cue and the track selection is top notch. There is nowhere to go but up for this up and coming DJ.
