Definitely different, but certainly worth it

"This points out the difference in Mendelssohn's symphonies with the Reformation and Lobgesang on one side; the Italian and Scottish on the other side. Seifried's power style is very much a natural with the Reformation and Lobgesang but is definitely a change on the usually lighthearted Italian and Scottish. However, the listener who can make the adjustment will hear Seifried bring out things that had gone unnoticed before, especially with his precision and ability to bring out subtle nuances in each instrument. If you want the traditional Mendelssohn sound, this is not for you, but if you can make the adjustments, this is a great addition to your collection"
