"Memphis Willie B. (r.n. William Borum) was a country blues singer from guess where, who also accompanied himself on guitar and harmonica. He sings in a deep, laconic tenor voice, and likes to moan slightly at the end of most lines. Many of his lyrics come from the blues tradition (rather than being original). On slow, down-home selections like P-38 BLUES and FUNNY CAPER BLUES he can make the hairs stand on the back of your neck. His guitar playing is very simple and effective. To my knowledge he has the bad luck of being left out of the major blues discography. I believe he made only two recordings for Bluesville (on the same day), and that was it. If you're into country blues in its simplest form (man + guitar), this CD is perfect for you. I loved it."
