"After an absence of close to 10 years, the Melodians, best known for their hit "Rivers of Babylon," which was included on the soundtrack for the classic movie "The Harder They Come," re-emerged in 1990 with this effort, which showed that while at moments the harmonies weren't quite what they were, the crux of what the trio was remained intact.Highlights of the lp include the title track,("Irie" being the Jamaican term for cool, the highest, at one with the universe), "Jah Reggae," "Get Up and Dance," (and you will do just that), "Warning," and "Push a Little Harder" (the latter 2 became popular in clubs on their 12" releases).Thrown in for good measure are 2 classic tracks- the Lee "Scratch" Perry produced "Down Here In Babylon," (1975), and among the trio's first hits, the beautiful "You Don't Need Me," from 1966.Not a bad comeback album by the stalwarts of the rocksteady era. Their fans are very happy to hear those harmonies once again."
