Just one song on this CD is worth the price of the whole CD!

"While most of the songs found here are songs that have appeared on numerous other albums, these are somewhat different renditions. Brand New Key was a huge hit for Melanie and this newly recorded version is just as good as the original. All the songs demonstrate that Melanie's incredible and unique voice is still as spellbinding as ever. I particularly enjoyed the song Long Long Time. Although not written by Melanie to hear her sing and play this song one can't help but feel that it was written for her. [Note: I would have rated the CD with 5 stars had all the songs been new songs not found on previous albums.]"
Beautiful Music for Beautiful People

"With such songs as "Brand New Key", "Long Long Time", "Candles in the Rain", "Rainbow Race", "Babe Rainbow", and of course, "Beautiful People", this album is a must-have for anyone who enjoys Melanie's music. It offers many of her classics as well as some of her more recent releases, all sung with the beauty and raw passion inherent within Melanie's music through the past 25+ years. Other tracks included on this CD are "Purple Haze", "Ruby Tuesday", "Peace Will Come", and "Look What They've Done To My Song". Unlike most of the other BEST OF albums dedicated to Melanie, this album features rerecordings of her older songs, making it a rare treasure!"
This Really Is!

"Melanie is the poet of our time and for times yet to come. She has given us some really great musical performances on this album, "The Very Best Of Melanie: Acoustic Blue"-- Her rendition of "Long Long Time" is truly an emotional trip! And speaking of "trips", you probably remember Jimi Hendrix's "Purple Haze" -- well, Melanie with just her voice and accoustic accompaniment brings that song to a whole new life, while keeping alive the spirit "Jimi Hendrix"!
She re-prises her "Candles In The Rain" and includes within the context of the song her "recitation" of her poem, "Candles In The Rain"-- 'fed the world on oats and raisins. . . to be there is to remember. . . Maher Baber lives again. . .Candles In the rain!'
My personal two favorites are her 'Rainbow' songs. She re-visits Pete Seeger's "My Rainbow Race" as only Melanie can sing it. When she sings tghe line, "it's too soon to die"- you just knows she's right (and so is Pete Seeger). She concludes the album with her very own "Babe Rainbow"- 'I know it's hard looking up at sun knowing you'll never be warm, Babe Rainbow.'
If you listened to Melanie all those years ago at Woodstock (either 'cause you were there or because you were there in spirit) or if you've kept up with her over the years, this is a great great CD to own and listen to again and again. "To be there is to remember" And we remember Ms Melanie Safka!"
