CD Reviews

Excellent reproduction

"I've been wanting to get the Melanie / Gather Me album on CD for 10 years now, and my patience has finally paid off. This is actually a double CD package (as opposed to a double-length CD). The Gather Me disc is identical to the original recording, and the The Good Book disk includes all the original tracks, plus the bonus track We Don't Know Where We're Going.

All in all, a well-executed effort, a good value for the money, and a great additon to my library."
Well worth waiting for

"Melanie is one of the truly great entertainers. Although she has sold millions of albums/cds, she has not had the wider public recognition such a powerful voice and such amazing song writing prowess deserves. This double CD is better than the original vinyl. A whole new generation should be listening to this amazing artist."
It's about time

"Gather Me, released in 1971 and featuring her most popular, (and probably least important), hit "Brand New Key" has been an elusive find on CD. About 7 years ago I dumped the l.p. into my recording studio software and got rid of the cracks, pops and other anomalies associated with vinyl just to have a copy on cd along with lots of her other great songs like the full length version of "Candles in the Wind". Unfortunately, my LP had been played so much the "Steppin'" was un-savable so the hunt continued.

I was elated to find Gather Me being made available again. This is Melanie at the top of her craft and considering the importance of "Brand New Key" in the history of popular music, I was surprised that the LP was so hard to find. Now if I could just replace my 12" version of "Who's Been Sleeping in My Bed?" from 1985, I'll be the happiest queer alive!
