This album is perhaps their most accessible, so a good place to start if you haven't heard this band before. Track down Mekons Rock N' Roll, Original Sin, and Curse of the Mekons and enjoy."

"This album is hard to get right now for a fair price,because it has not been re-released yet.



I do believe this album rules. The Mekons always try something new with each release. It seems they always have a new theme. This one is about Love. And they sing some of the most original songs you ever heard about it.



I can't praise the Mekons enough, and this album easily gets placed up there with their other incredible creations.



Like somebody wrote once, if you haven't experienced the Mekons, you are not only doing yourself a disservice, but you probably think you are more of a hipster than you actually are. I got lucky and found them. Now your reading this, so you've come to the party.



Get this ,Mekons Rock and Roll, Curse of Mekons, and Ohh (Out of our Heads)and expand your perception of Originality.



Oh and if you like 'Alt Country' then get Fear and Whisky, because the Mekons essentially created the Genre. I told you, they try everything and therefore many times they are actually spawning something new to our ears.

Mekons Sing Songs of Love

"Mekons seem to be exploring different experiences of love on this album, with great success. From the sexmoney correlates of the album's opener Millionaire, where sex seems little more than a transaction ("lust corrodes my body/I've lost count of my lovers. But I can count my money") to the obsessional tale of love untold in All I Want. The album closer "Point of No Return" is a fitting ending, with Tom Greenhalgh savagely proclaiming "I don't believe in dealing friends away for love", and providing one of the most articulate explorations of having an affair ever put to music. Not quite as enjoyable or frenetic as Retreat to Memphis, or as cogent as Rock and Roll or Curse of the Mekons, but definitely not to be missed. Additionally, All I Want is available in a recharged live format on the Millionaire single, to my mind better than the studio version."
