"...of the fact that it's better to forge our own sound that rip off others. So many groups now sound like watered down verisons of new wave/no wave. Tod A. & Co. did at least hear and responded to the short lived era of the no wave scene with unique ideas. They are the reason to own this split single, as Italy's Meathead efforts fall bit short of the mark (although their remix isn't bad).
"¡Schweinhund!" (obviously German for "pig-dog") is a tight grindy instrumental that seems as if it was left-off as an outtake from "White Noise" or "Ask Questions Later". But strangely enough, what really shines is the CSC remix of "Large American Jaw". The composition is completely given a harrowing effect in spite of the faux-angst techno rock that it used to be. The foreboding mix of low-end bass and spare drumming introduce a violent atmosphere which favors tension instead of old outright pounding.
Meathead's take on the CSC track is an interesting deconstructive techno romp, but pales in comparison to the "Law American Jaw" remix.
It was just plain "noise" to some, but it was hope for me that rock and roll didn't need to be "saved". In certain hands, it was doing just fine.
"
A must have for any Cop Shoot Cop fan!

"An exceptional feast of chaos. This CD brings the bands Cop Shoot Cop and Meathead together for a massive attack on your stereo."
