"Newcomers to McGuinness Flint should know that the bulk of the songs are written and performed by Gallagher and Lyle, who were soon signed by Apple Records as songwriters. Mary Hopkin recorded several of their songs (on APPLE of course), and years later, they had their own hit album "Breakaway", which was covered by Art Garfunkel, who also covered their "A Heart In New York" solo, AND with Paul Simon in their CENTRAL PARK live album. Lyle later wrote songs for other singers, like Tina Turner's big hit "What's Love Got To Do With It?".
A simple description of their music would be "pretty, infectious folk and ballads, light rock, all with soul".
I look forward to better wording for that....."
