"This CD by the living legend has a "nature" feel to it with most of the tracks, which had me wondering how much my favorite artist, Keiko Matsui, has been influenced by him since a lot of her music is like that. The title cut starts it out beautifully and with a great beat to it, but every track has a similar feel yet is also a little different. The alternate takes of "Beyond the Sun" and "Rolem" add a nice touch as well."

"I thought it a must to review this album since the only review of it leaves alittle to be desired. First off most jazz fans are familiar with McCoy Tyner's piano playing with the classic Coltrane quartet which is excellent but not so many jazz fans kept up with Tyner after Coltranes death in 1967. This album Fly with the Wind was made in 1976 by great jazz producer Orrin Keepnews. The new Keepnews Collection edition is remastered & comes with detailed notes on the session written by Keepnews that are very interesting if your like me & enjoy finding out little details about the way the music you love was made. This music is mostly high energy and the original writing by Tyner has a definite latin flair. In my opinion this is one of the best jazz piano albums with strings, the main reason I can see for this is that the string writing enhances the playing of the core trio which features along with Tyner legendary bassist Ron Carter & drummer Billy Cobham. A nice touch here is that this music was recorded live in the studio with all the musicians playing at once there are no overdubs which gives the music that special live energy that you can only get when 20 plus musicians are in the same room with eachother playing. My favorite track is the lead off title tune Fly with the Wind, it's a up tempo samba of sorts that gets really driven along by McCoy & Billy Cobham's signature drum rolls this groove is infectious. The other reviewer was correct by saying that the other tunes are of similar design but I enjoy them all & if your a fan of stellar jazz playing at its highest level with the sonic touch that a real string orchestra can provide than have no fear & do yourself a favor & pick this classic up."
