"Maxine Brown recorded for the Scepter label's Wand subsidiary during the same period as the Shirelles, Chuck Jackson and Tommy Hunt -- which means that among the writer-producers she worked with were Carole King, Luther Dixon and Burt Bacharach. This album, it's claimed, contains two complete albums and eight "bonus" tracks. Be warned, though: the material on this Kent album is fine (stereo, with a severe left-right spread, when available) and the notes are good. But two songs from the original "hits" album, "Funny" and "Oh, No, Not My Baby", listed on the front cover and discussed in the liner notes, are absent here, without explanation. Admittedly, both were first released on the Nomar label, but they did appear on the Wand "Hits" album."
