Maxilla Blue is a three piece hip hop crew from Des Moines Iowa composed of Asphate Woodhavet on vocals, Aeon Grey on production, and Touchnice as the DJ. The group formed in 2006 and released its first full length album in April of 2008 on Central Standard Records. The group has steadily done shows throughout the midwest including opening for such acts as Ghostface Killah, Brother Ali, Mr Lif, and the Flowbots. Maxilla Blue is set to drop their brand new LP "Vol II" in 2010. The members of local hip-hop collective Maxilla Blue liken themselves to a trio of chefs. Asphate Woodhavet, Aeon Grey and DJ TouchNice each bring a little special seasoning to the recipe of Maxilla Blue's upcoming album, "Vol. II." "It's like a potluck. You don't tell someone else what to bring to a potluck," Woodhavet said. "We trust in each other and our dedication to the craft. We know whatever we bring will be something our tastes tolerate, probably even dig." Said Grey: "It's complementary, so we don't end up with three servings of meatloaf." "Whatever is going into the recipe seems to be working," says Des Moines Metromix writer Joe Lawler. But track-to-track Maxilla Blue exhibit appreciation for a diverse cross-section of Hip-Hop styles, from that of legendary pioneers to under-appreciated underground underdogs.
