"Not sure what kind of music they are listening to down in PUERTO RICO, but up here in the good old STATES this CD is hot... Obviously Denny Reyes needs to stick to his "Bolero".
I've tried a few of the Masterbeat titles and they are always consistent with great dance music, and many mixes you don't find anywhere else. This CD is no exception - rare and hard to find mixes like "Mirage", "Chatline" and "Would You" round out the other great staples like "Call On Me" (HUGE INTERNATIONAL HIT) and the new mixes of Vernessa Mitchell.
The disc is flawlessly mixed and fresh - not the same tracks you find on EVERY compilation out there these days. Way to go Masterbeat! (and stop selling in Puerto Rico! they don't know dance music down there, obviously!)"
Masterbeat FAILD to capture White Party Miami on CD...

"I've heard Brett spin GOOD live (or even EXCELLENT as he did at Chicago's Fireball 2005: FRATERNI TEA (CLOSING PARTY) @ Excalibur Nightclub)... But it doesn't mean he can make a MIX CD that works... I must agree with Ramirez & Reyes CD review... As a faithful White Party Miami (WPM) goer (every year since I've been able to seek into the parties - give or take 15 years) I can honestly say Masterbeat: White Party Miami XX [COLLECTOR'S EDITION] just fell REALLY SHORT of what WPM is REALLY about and is the lamest excuse for a party weekend CD... For this "COLLECTOR'S EDITION CD" Masterbeat should have commissioned a TOP circuit DJs who plays @ WPM, is REPRESENTATIVE of what WPM is REALLY all about and TRULY brings in the crowds to this party... That is who should have been mixing this so called collector's edition CD... Personally I think ABEL should have done it... he is from Miami, one of White Party Miami's TOP DJs and HIS party has been considered the TOP "PARTY" every year for the last 5 years by the people who go to the events... And has had a successful PARTY ever since I can remember from the days of Paragon to SALVATION to Alegria and Orbit... I LOVE YOU Henrichsen but this CD was just not your best work... Track selections where not even hits or played at a single event I attended that weekend... I went to NINE events that weekend including the Muscle Beach Party at which Brett was EXCELLENT and this CD DOES NOT SHOW his talent."
Not masterbeat's best, but crucial for some rare and amazing

"Call on Me starts things off with its infectious hook borrowed from Steve Winwood's Valerie. And an amazing Debby Holiday anthem gets some long airplay on track two for nearly 9 minutes. Track 3 is purely for lovers of latin house. I could really do without track 4 as well, Chatline-the dirty talk between a man and a woman is way too heterosexual for a white party compilation. Wreckin My Nerves is total diva attitude. The elusive Chad Jack mixes of TWO Vernessa Mitchell tracks are here, clocking in at over 9 minutes each! Stacey Burket gives us more diva attitude with a darker edge. Sauna follows the thumping Vernessa Mitchell track, and really changes the nrg. It's moody and trancy, with lilting femal vocal and a gentle guitar. Seems out of place, especially since the disc ends strong with Tony Moran's cover of When in Rome. This one has a bit more filler than I'm used to finding on Masterbeat collections, but it still has its fair share of winners. Track times:
1. call on me (7:02)
2. Half a mile away (8:45)
3. would you (5:54)
4. Chatline (4:36)
5. wreckin my nerves (7:01)
6. trouble don't last always (9:20)
7. Love me right (6:36)
8. took my life (9:12)
9. sauna (7:25)
10. the promise (8:20)"
