"This is a very cute CD, and the best of Mary-Kate and Ashley's Greatest Hits series. "Brother For Sale," "I Am the Cute One," and "No One Tells the President What to Do" are three of my favorite kids songs.
"Brother for Sale" explores the mixed emotions of having siblings: they are both a bane and a blessing. The song takes a clever twist on that long-acknowledged truism by setting up a scenario where Mary-Kate and Ashley are trying to sell their "slightly used" big brother to anyone who will take him. But in the process of touting his good qualities to potential buyers, they realize that they really don't want to give him up.
"I Am the Cute One" has a cool calypso sound, and the twins sound absolutely adorable. The lyrics are simple...a debate between the sisters over which of them is "the cute one." It's not terribly deep, but cute and very pleasant to listen to.
"No One Tells the President What to Do" took on new meaning for me as George W. Bush was ignoring the United Nations a few years back and insisting on going into Iraq alone. Prophetic words from the Olsens. It's a funny song, though, in its own right, as Mary-Kate and Ashley dream about being president as a way of avoiding all of their chores (because there's no responsibility involved in leading the free world!).
The other songs are enjoyable, too, if not as memorable or clever as those three. The bonus tracks are pretty forgettable, but needed to be included as a selling point to those who already have the 5 CDs/videos from which the "greatest hits" are drawn.
It's a good CD for anyone who has kids who wants to be a kid again.
