Product DescriptionThe brilliant composer/organist Carson Cooman has selected compositions for this recording that are unified by their debt to early music (most especially its modality) as well as an economy of means in their construction. All are built from simple musical materials, elaborated and developed by their composers to create compositions that inhabit musical spaces of an often spiritual character. Five American composers (Patricia Van Ness, Jim Dalton, Tim Rozema, Al Brenner and Harold Stover) are featured along with Swedish composer Thomas Aberg and Slovakian native Peter MachajdÃk. Cooman specializes in the performance of contemporary music and more than 130 new compositions have been written for him by composers from around the world. He performs on the Organ of Our Lady in Adergas in Velesovo, Slovenia, an organ built in the Thuringian Baroque style.
