"If you love western ballads, this is one of the best albums you can find.......All of the songs were written between 1960 and 1966......If you liked "EL PASO"......you will love this album. The recording techniques and the recording itself seem to exceed any expectations you would have from a recording that was made so many years ago.......and I personally think that Marty Robbins was one of the most talented western balladeers there ever was. If you could wear a CD out, I would be worn out this one out by now......"
One of the best!

"Another great gunfighter ballad album from singer-songwriter Marty Robbins, a name that is known quite well as the man with a knowledge of the old west, who sings these great ballads with authority, and never fails to paint a picture in the listeners mind as Marty tells it ,Meet Me Tonight In Laredo,or Marty's smooth delivery on the, The Wind Goes, and reveals the cowboy way of hard life on the range with ,Cry Stampede, and there's the fatal, Cottonwood Tree. Marty Robbins' tenor-baritone voice is always alive and vital with each listen, and, THE DRIFTER, is a Marty Robbins essential to add to the gunfighter ballad series."
