Amazon.comFormer Fox sitcom star Martin Lawrence's second CD serves up more of what made him one of the most visible comics of the 1990s--friendly, funky raps on common standup topics: sex, money, and the eternal struggle between men and women. All standard stuff, but ably done. Recorded live in 1995, the CD has a pleasant, freeform feeling; Funk It! uses the comedian's relaxed delivery and persona to good effect. Lawrence expounds on Lorena Bobbitt and the unhappy travels of her husband's penis, cross-eyed women, airline travel, and idiots who use cellular phones (not turned on, of course) to try to impress; all yield laughs, if no surprises. The language is a little salty and a little sexist, but if you liked Lawrence's earlier CD, Talkin' Shit, you know precisely what to expect. --Michael Gerber
