MARRY ME JANE - A Stunning Little Gem of a CD

"Marry ME JANE, the self-titled CD with 10 songs from the movie "If Lucy Fell" is such a simple work that it is quite easy to overlook it, but that would be a great loss. "Marry Me Jane" is a wonderful understated work, filled with some of the most original sounds to come out on CD in years. Part alternative/ part folk rock/part pop/part adult contemporary with a little ethnic beat and hint of metal thrown in for good measure, it is no wonder that "Marry Me Jane" confounds radio execs, since it refuses to be pigeon-holed neatly into one succinct category of music. "Marry Me Jane" is an amazing blend of sounds, and the lead singer, Amanda Kravat, has a chameleon-esque and totally enchanting voice that effortlessly raps itself around any style she wishes to choose. She can be hard on songs like "Twentyone" and "Who's Leaving Who", strong and confident on "Misunderstood" and then downright waif-like and delicate on my favorite cut, "You Didn't Kiss Me". While there are a few wek tracks on this CD ("Ordinary" for instance seems to lack the energy necessary to cary it off), the excellent work far outweighs the few missteps. If you enjoy groups like "10,000 Maniacs" and "Bare Naked Ladies", you'll want to give "MARRY ME JANE" a listen.

"Amanda's vocals are so earthy and pure that you just want to try and find all the music you can from her.....The band's sound is clean and isn't overpowering....A great blend."
Fresh, moving, surprising, and interesting to listen to!

"This CD is listened to over and over again. I am impressed with the musicianship, and especially the vocals. The passion is only rivaled by a Billy Myers type of voice. I can't get enough of this album, and wish the band was still recording. Would also like to see them live!!!!"
