Product DescriptionJasmine's mini-series of compilations spotlighting UK chartmakers of the late 1950s and early 60s turns its attentions this month to Mark Wynter - one of the most popular UK male vocalists of the post Rock n Roll / Pre Beatlemania era. As with his contemporary Adam Faith, Mark parlayed his successful singing career into an even more successful one as a stage and screen actor when the hits stopped coming. But for the first half of the 60s he was seldom far from the UK Top 20, his covers of US hits frequently outperforming the original versions. From his first "Image Of A Girl" to his biggest "Venus In Blue Jeans", all of Mark's biggest and most important hits are featured in 'Kickin' Up The Leaves', alongside the A and B sides of many other fine 45s that did not chart but that are no less durable and enjoyable. Also featured here in its entirety is Mark's first album from 1960, which demonstrates an all-round vocal talent that points the way to the stage musicals that would form part of his thespian activity later in the decade. Like his peers Joe Brown, Cliff Richard and Marty Wilde, Mark is still an active performer and still tours UK concert halls with a repertoire that can mostly be found in this great new Jasmine collection.
