"The re-release of 1998's "Frisko Disco" has been much anticipated by Farina-heads worldwide. It is a supreme mix of top shelf tracks that force you to shake your thang! With tracks from the likes of Peter Funk/Kevin Yost, DJ Sneak, DJ Q, Mateo & Matos and Naked Music NYC without even listening to it you know your are in for something great. I don't even need to tell you about the quality mixing, when Mark Farina's name is on a mix album it is a stamp of only the finest. As the original cover says: "68 minutes of subterranean grooves compiled and mixed by San Francisco's legendary house decknician."Go and get it for yourself, because you can't borrow mine!"

"Mark Farina known for his jazzy house style get's back to the essence with this house compilation. The is the purest house I've ever heard from this DJ. This compilation is nothing but house, disco and even some garage elements. The mixing on this cd is top notch like everything else I've heard from Mark Farina. The music selection is great and nothing sounds out of place in this compilation. Track 6 is a funky disco jam "Scrumpin" followed by "Inhabitions" which has a very garage sound. Track 11 "Let's Go Disco" is a another funky disco cut. All the music in this set is great so pick this up when you find it. Mark Farina doesn't disappoint with this mixed compilation. He seems to put out one great cd after another."

"The two words to describe this mix are deep and funky. If you like deep funky house then you will love this album. Mark Farina spins a flavor that's all his own, and this mix shows off the late 90s era of that style.
Beware though that this album is not San Francisco Sessions vol 1. It came a year or so before SFSv1 was released is a different sound altogether. This album is a unique mix full of deep bass, funky rhythms, and catchy samples. The mixing is A+. IMHO it's one of the few albums containing mixes as they should be - an undetectable movement from one track to the next. Track 1 into 2 and track 7 into 8 are about as tight as they come, but truthfully they're all good!
I bought this album in its original packaging in 98 and still listen to it all the time. I'm so glad to see it rereleased since very few other mixes have held my interest like this one has."

"The Golden Gate Bridge ain't the only thing worth checking out in the Bay Area. San Fran-based DJ Mark Farina demonstrates his ability to make you dance with this 68-minute trip through some serious house grooves which feature some vocals. My tracks of choice are the bangin' "I Know" and the 14-minute epic "It's Love," which, despite its length, never wears out its welcome. There are quite a handful of DJ mix CDs from Farina, but this is a good place to begin if you're starting to build a collection of his work."
Too much time on my hands...

"Therefore I am sitting here reviewing all my favorite djs and all my favorite cds of theirs. This one is excellent. Antithesis of Mushroom Jazz 1, which is also 5 stars but more downtempo."
