Synopsis

Product Description
One critic states, "While Brake's haunting melodies and evocative lyrics conjure up eerie phantoms reminiscent of "La Belle Dame sans Merci" (John Keats) and "The Highwayman" (Alfred Noyes) her vocals tempt comparison to Loreena McKennitt." Brake's striking vocals and collaborator, Kent Thompson's mystical arranging bring Celtic music to a new cinematic high. It is, at once, symbolic, vibrant, rich and unbelievably unique. The is a new celticity told from the perspective of a romatically gifted Midwesterner. Standout tracks include, "The Celtic Rose", "Standing Stones" and "By The River". This is quality music performed by a woman faithful to the tradition but able to see the future as well.

CD Reviews

Magical!

(5 out of 5 stars)

"What a delightful and magical collection of music. American born, Marita Brake, has somehow tuned into the Celtic spirit! All of these songs are pure enchantment with a bit of whimsy, lots of delight, some sadness and inmeasurable tenderness woven in a beautiful fabric of Celtic fancy. All the artists on this recording, along with Marita's beautiful voice and talented guitar playing, are masterful and the whole color palate is rich and pleasing. In noticing another review, I cannot wonder about the comment by a Christian. As another Christian, I find nothing in this CD that offends. I continue to enjoy this CD and look forward to more CDs by Marita Brake!"
