Synopsis

Album Description
Three disc (two CD + NTSC/Region 0 DVD) collection from Marilyn Manson and The Spooky Kids. These rare, legendary recordings, were originally made in 1991 and 1992. This early version of Manson's band recorded Disc One under the supervision of Trent Reznor from Nine Inch Nails, and they would become the first signings to his own record label. The concert on Disc Two was recorded in Florida in 1991 and features the earliest version of 'My Monkey', a track Manson still includes in his set list to this day. The DVD features the legendary Florida, 1991 gig as well as an exclusive interview and rare, unseen documentary footage. Entertain Me. 2008.

CD Reviews

Daisy has finally released the old demos

"Ah, the old days of South Florida, the early years of the band that would infect the mainstream like a bad rash. This chronicles the early days of the band Marilyn Manson before they got big. These songs have been around in crude form on the internet for some years now, I'm glad Daisy finally restored them to listenable quality. I would only recommend this for die-hard fans or people who want to know what Marilyn manson sounded like before hooking up with Trent Reznor and Nothing Records. There are a few cool pics on the DVD too. You see the makings of a future superstar with this. This album should have been released under the name MARILYN MANSON and the Spooky Kids but I guess for legal reasons they couldn't. I think it would have attracted more people that way. True fans know about the Spooky Kids though. Many fans of Manson's more melodic work from Mechanical Animals and Holy Wood wouldn't like this much, with maybe the exception of the song Negative 3. The CD rocks on some moments but falls flat in others. It's excusable though. They were just starting out. You could see what Marilyn Manson was going to become in this early recordings. I think it's a good album for the most part. The DVD is pretty cool too. Crappy camerawork but thats the kitsch value of it."
Great stuff

"Call me crazy but I like this rough, early material a lot better than what Manson has been doing the last few years. After losing key members of the band, the song writing has become less powerful and more pop-ish. Daisy Berkowitz is an amazing guitarist as evidenced on the Portrait album as well as this cd. The songs fall somewhere between moody goth, industrial flavored electro-punk, and funk. Even as early as their first demos it's plain to see that they were on to something. The Spooky Kids were so incredibly different from any other band of that time. The songs were funny, surreal, creepy and ugly sounding. Now I'm hoping that the rest of the demos will get released officially, with the same audio treatment, especially some of the songs that were remade on later albums. Cash in? Maybe, but like I said, this is good stuff. Especially for those who are sick of MM's highly produced, pop-core sound of late. In that case, I really don't care who's cashing in."
Cash in

"There are a few decent tracks here, you can hear where some bits were used on future songs. Otherwise, Manson had a reason why most of these songs got tossed- they suck. However, the sound quality wasn't bad. The DVD was merely songs off the cd synced to the video. Watch half way closely and you'll hear a bass line going and the bassist on the video is standing idle with his hands nowhere near the strings! It was good for heckling purposes. I'm a big Manson fan and bought this just to have it as part of the collection. I think Berkowitz was just trying to cash in."
