CD ReviewsIs this all? loteq | Regensburg | 08/31/2000 (3 out of 5 stars) ""Kayleigh" is one of Marillion's 'cheapo compilations', it has exactly the same track list as the mistitled "Essential collection". All these CDs are available in Germany for about $5. There's nothing wrong with the songs, but it's a wild und uncohesive mix of hits, b-sides, and album tracks. Granted, it does serve a purpose, since there are three songs, the 17-minute "Grendel", "Cinderella search", and "Lady Nina", which have appeared on the now out-of-print compilation "B sides themselves". But again, with the exception of "Grendel", you'll find all these songs on these new, remastered double-disc sets, and in superior versions. "Jigsaw" and "Punch and Judy" are taken from "Fugazi", the hit singles "Kayleigh" and "Lavender" are culled from "Misplaced childhood". "Torch song" is one of the key tracks of "Clutching at straws", dealing with Fish's alcohol problems. However, for a few dollars more you can have the comprehensive double-disc set "Best of both worlds", featuring all of Marillion's singles. Neither hit compilation nor rarities collection, the original intention of "Kayleigh" remains questionable." Buy somthing else M. Habiby | Troy, NY USA | 07/31/2004 (1 out of 5 stars) "This is actually a non official release. It is not sanctioned by the band. You will not find it on their official discographies. Save your money and buy something from their official collection." One great song theothergirl | HB | 08/03/2001 (5 out of 5 stars) "Now im not a huge fan of this band, but i am just slightly impartial to the song "kayleigh" cause welll i was named after it. when my mom was pregnant she heard this song and thought the name was beautiful and that the lyrics were really how she felt about her relationship at that time. since i have such an unusual name i lvoe to tell people i am named after such a great song that most people have never even heard of. i am proud to be named after "kayleigh" its a wonderful song, and when you listen to the lyrics you will truly feel the impact of it."
