CD Reviews

A personal album

"this is a personal album but one of my favorites, this album was one of the best by mariah, her songs are heartbreaker and cant take that away, and of course the remake of against all odds, but my favorite is Cant take that away, and the reason why i love this song so much is because it gives me alot of hope, it makes me feel good about myself, this songs i believe is really for different people, I am gay and i dont always get accepted, but i do love this song, and the whole album, so if u know ur different or struggling with something, but this album for sure, it helps u deal with it in a great way, i love you mariah, must own"
The End Of A Very Pretty Rainbow...

"Mariah Carey was newly divorced and this isn't a good thing if your ex husband owns your record company. Mariah Carey quickly rushed out "Rainbow". It didn't sell as well as her previous but still was a huge hit. "Heartbreaker" and "Thank God I Found You" were both #1s. The cover art showed a new Mariah who liked to show off skin. It would of been shocking if it was 1994 but this is the new Mariah - still beautiful of course.

In many ways you could argue that "Rainbow" is Mariah's best. The lyrics are very personal and the album tells a story about her divorce. In the middle of the album it gets very dark and eerie but the end shows a happy Mariah who found a new boyfriend. "Heartbreaker" and "Can't Take That Away (Mariah's Theme)" rank up with "Breakdown" and "Fantasy". The "Heartbreak Remix" is one of her best remixes if not the best.

There are many reasons why you might say this was her worst at the time. Many of the songs start to sound the same and blend together. "Petals" is beautiful but feels too similar to songs on the "Butterfly" album. "Crybaby" was Mariah's first song to not reach the Top 20 and it didn't really deserve to. "Bliss" is a strange song where Mariah sings more than half the song with her whistle register. My biggest complaint is her voice. While, there are some great moments why doesn't she use her beautiful voice like she use to? Does she remember "Vision of Love" or "Butterfly"?

In conclusion, "Rainbow" was really hinting at the mess "Glitter". Still, if you're a huge Mariah fan go out and buy this. There are enough reasons to get it and it really could of been a great album if she hadn't rushed it."
