"Following several years of CAN DO NO WRONG STATUS in her homeland,Bethania chose to record an acoustic album in 1983.Her brother Caetano Veloso,Toninho Horta and Guto Graca Mello were instrumental in bringing this project to fruition. The song list included among others the Caetano penned tunes MOTRIZ and CICLO ,the Northeastern FILOSOFIA PURA(in this case shared with Gal Costa),and the classic RIO DE JANEIRO(Isto E O Meu Brasil). Not leaving behind her label as romantic singer,Maria Bethania
included Angela RoRo's luscious ballad FOGUEIRA which became a hit, as well as Lupicinio Rodrigues' seminal ELA DISSE ME ASSIM.Long before her acoustic Brasileirinho,Ciclo became Bethania's own favorite LP not knowing she would visit those waters again in 2003."
