Not terrible, but not as special as the first

"I found the first Maps album (We Can Create) to be a pleasant surprise of an album with such stunning songs as Elouise, Liquid Sugar, and Lost My Soul. Without much hesitation, I decided to purchase Turning The Mind as soon as I learned of its existence.
Unfortunately, I don't think it's really my type of music - whereas the first album had some atmospheric songs that had space in the mix, this album struck me as overly compressed 80's dance music."
Where are you going?

"First off, if you're new to Maps and haven't given his debut "We Can Create" a good listen, then please go out and do so . . . otherwise, I'm assuming you're already a Maps fan, and want to know if his second release is worthy. I suppose it's a valid question, but, really, need you even ask? All tracks are quintessential Maps, but a few have an electronica vibe that'll jolt you from (or further?) your hypnotic state. Love it."
Another great turn

"I've been eagerly awaiting this CD and I'm not disappointed. More great music from an innovative artist. The music shows growth and some risk-taking. I sense this is a more personal album than his first. But any introspection is balanced by upbeat and accessible melodies. Overall, though, it's the beauty of his music that I love, almost like a neo-dream pop sound."
