Album Description"This Austin, TX electronic group comes off like a more beat oriented and cinematic Deerhoof." -- Party Ends Many Birthdays started as a home recording project. It went from Austin, Texas to Osaka, Japan in 2003-04, then came back to Austin and began transforming into a live show. The band's self-released, limited edition Days of Beat/Days of Hollow EP sold out within a year, and their most recent EP, Emptiness Is Forever, will be released in March 2009. The music mixes noise, beats, melodies, colors, and textures into a swirling and somewhat unpredictable sound pool. The lyrics are a combination of English and Japanese, either sung in beautiful rhymes, chanted, or shouted in chaotic rhythms. The live performances are like a spectacle, a subtlety, and an art project all rolled into one. Imagine a black cat that drinks gin, dances, and loves literature, and you have Many Birthdays.
