Once in a lifetime, indeed!

""Once In A Lifetime" is a rare treat by the little-known singer Mamie Lee. She sounds like a grittier Nancy Wilson, which may not sound like a compliment, but is! She's really marvelous, and has a great way of putting a new touch on songs that have been covered by many singers before. This CD contains all 12 tracks from the original 1966 LP plus both sides of a later single, one of which is the Northern soul classic "I Can Feel Him Slipping Away." The liner notes mention that other recordings by Mamie sit in the MGM vaults, and here's hoping those additional songs see a release sometime soon. Mamie should be heard and appreciated by more discerning listeners who enjoy swinging pop/jazz vocals by classy ladies who know how to "get down," too!"
