Synopsis

Album Description
"The full-on blowout Wayne and Kate fanatics have been drooling for: hardcore lysergic guitar sputter in actual rock form." - SPIN "Listening to anything Major Stars has done is refreshing; there's a sense that whatever this rock stuff is, they got it right." - MAGNET "Not only is it awe-inspiring to see how founding members Wayne and Kate...have reinvented their already great band right as its future sound would come into question, but to connect with a younger generation of musicians already anointed with the same dank spiritual moisture has resulted in their rawest, most uglified blats of roaring hot jet-black noise under this name, ever." - DUSTED "Simply put, it sounds a cross between Black Sabbath and Bikini Kill...by any measure, it fucking owns." - BOSTON PHOENIX The Major Stars finished their most recent U.S. tour in May 2003, and returned in June to make their definitive studio record. They headed to NYC a week later to record the Live in Europa split with Comets On Fire and, unexpectedly, lay low for the next 18 months after losing longtime drummer Dave Lynch and ending up with an empty bass spot when Tom Leonard joined Kate Village and Wayne Rogers in the guitar frontline. In this unraveling of sorts, Major Stars mach two started to come together. Synoptikon is the newer, heavier Major Stars who have been dumping amp-loads of heft onto Boston stages and are now bringing it to your home audio system. A record like this just wouldn't sound right on your dumpy little mp3 player!
