Maia Sharp's Echo is Stunning.

"This is a great record, maybe her best. It's typical Maia, with sharp, biting lyrics, fine music ably played by her studio cohorts, and the unique plays on words that make her songs extra-special. Her rockin' number, Polite Society, is, as she described in her recent terrific concert in Kent, OH, a head bobbing, sing along, sway along song. Great. And Death by Perfection, which she shares with Bonnie Raitt, is superb musically and lyrically - try NOT to sing along after your first few listenings. But more than that, Echo shows a soft side of her that I think is extraordinary. The Girl on Her Way strikes me as the perfect personal close after a long concert. Angel on My Shoulder and How I Could Have Loved You are other numbers that feature moving words and a sweet musical backdrop that sounds more mature, more relaxed than her previous work. This is a woman who has composed a stellar catalog of music and gained the respect of her peers in the acoustic and folk genre's - she feels it, she's found her place and it's so immensely satisfying for us as listeners. I have been a Maia fan since hearing her team with Art Garfunkel on the amazing "Everything Waits to be Noticed, " CD in 2002. With Echo, Maia continues to improve, impress and thrill us."
Check out the NPR story about this album!

"I heard only 3 songs from this album and listened to the story about Maia and Bonnie Raitt on the NPR website [...] -- so immediately loved
and have now backordered it on Amazon. "Death by Perfection" actually had me singing the tag line by the second chorus -- Can't wait to hear the rest!"

"The Girl on Her Way makes me burst into tears. Then I have to cry that I have to wait three weeks for the album. I heard her story on NPR and fell in love with the music - I don't want mp3's - I want the disc. Can't wait until it arrives - right now it's on its way!"
