"Amazon's music finder thinks I should buy Love Songs from Romantic Movies and Bookends by Simon and Garfunkel. What am I doing wrong? I come here to praise the Maggies, not bury myself in schmaltz. This pop band from New England offers real romance, folks, the kind that would spill over the shelf, the kind that would burn a hole in the celluloid. In the vein of Fountains of Wayne-meets-Wilco, plaintive, clever, wound-up pop rock with hooks that draw happy faces all over your brain. You really will love these songs the way you love Rubber Soul or Alex Chilton's songs with Big Star. After years of tape releases there's finally a cd, and I for one would like to see a box-set career retrospective -- to the rest of the world the Maggies may only just be arriving, but to those in the know they've got a body of work as deep and accomplished as many a more famous act. Put this in your shopping cart instantly, reader, and join the team that knows about a band that will explode into wide popularity in the next couple of years, making you look like a pop-Nostradamus -- a happily-humming one."

"Wow! I am so totally blown away by this record. One listen and you will be singing the tunes out loud everywhere you go for weeks. Someday your kids will ask "where were you the first time you heard The Maggies". Buy this disk right away if you like Byrds/Beatles/XTC. Don't disappoint your children!"
