Good album, but not as polished as later CDs.

"A fine album that gives the listener hints of what is to come from Madredeus. Teresa Salgueiro's voice is absolutely marvelous, but at times she and the musicians are out of joint. But this was their first album and they recorded it in two days, so one can forgive a few mistakes. I recommend buying this if you are a Madredues fan. However, if you are new to Madredeus, buy Ainda, Existir, Espirito da Paz, or Paraiso. Força gente!"

"Ever since I purchased "O Espirito Da Paz" back in 1996 I've collected every Madredeus album and none of them including this one doesn't disappoint. Now I don't know Portuguese nor do I care to learn it. And although I have absolutely no idea what Teresa Salgueiro is singing. Truth is, I don't think I ever want to know, for me some things are better left unsaid. Sometimes I'd like to think Teresa is singing about something so beautiful, that it can't be expressed in words, and it can make your heart ache because of it. Sometimes listening to Madredeus is likened to some beautiful bird flapping into your drab little world and making all of your worries magically disappear, and for even the briefest of moments, you, yourself can feel freer than a bird."
