CD Reviews

One Of Madonna's Best Songs For Years!
Busy Body | London, England | 02/14/2004
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This past year has been the most critical of Madonna's career since way back in 1992. Her sex-mad antics of the early Nineties saw her career slump to an all-time low, and this pattern is being repeated as we speak. Madonna's 2003 album "American Life" (despite storming to No.1 in more than 15 countries worldwide) has sold just 5 million copies to date and the singles released from it have only been moderately successful. Critics and fans alike have given the album poor reviews all round, and Madonna certainly appears in need of a reinvention to put her rightfully back on top as the No.1 Undisputed Queen Of Pop.

I beg to differ with the critics, however: American Life is a superb album, criminally underrated and will be Madonna's most tragically overlooked record to date. After the singles "Die Another Day," "American Life" and "Hollywood," Madonna finally released the song everyone had been waiting for - "Love Profusion." This song is most likely to be the final song released from the album. It peaked at No.11 in the UK back in December 2003, becoming Madonna's lowest-charting single for more than seven years.

Love Profusion opens with the booming voice of Madonna singing, "There are too many questions. There is not one solution. There is no resurrection. There is so much confusion." The acoustic guitar in the background sets the happy tone for the song as the chorus kicks in, "And the love profusion. You make me feel, you make me know. And the love vibration. You make me feel, you make it shine." The second verse then starts and the beat of the song kicks in more and more. Madonna's vocals rise as the song gains momentum and she sings, "There are too many options. There is no consolation. I have lost my illusions. What I want is an explanation." She then sings the chorus once more before stating, "I got you, under my skin" over and over.

The song continues as she sings, "There is no comprehension. There is real isolation. There is so much destruction. What I want is a celebration." Madonna then sings, "And I know I can feel bad when I get in a bad mood and the world can look so sad, only you make me feel good." A male background vocal adds to the superb sonic qualities of the song. Madonna then lets the song loose and a wonderful beat hits in at 2:12 as she whispers "I got you under my skin." The chorus is then repeated a few more times as Madonna seems euphoric in a wonderful state. She seems happy, and the listener is happier because of this!

The video to Love Profusion is definitely Madonna's best from the American Life era. It features Madonna dancing around on a strip of sand in the middle of the sea. It sounds rather weird and it is, but in a really cool way. She's dressed in a long pink dress and dances around with enormous flowers that dance along with her. The colours in this video are particularly amazing - so vivid and bright. Then Madonna starts walking across the water on the sea, and on a strip of cloud with fireflies and much more in a reverse magical wonderful. The video is based on a British commercial for Estee Lauder perfume to which Madonna was sponsored. The song received great feedback in the UK that a video based on the concept was inevitable! And here it is, Madonna at her most underrated but best all at the same time! Superb song, superb video."
She's A Love Profusion ..

(5 out of 5 stars)

"This beautiful ballad has easily become everyone's favorite album track. It is the fourth single to be released of the amazing album 'American Life'. 'Nothing Fails' is an affecting love song to her husband. Attesting to the transformative power of love, Madonna's sincerity is apparent more so than on any other song. Madonna takes on the role of Joni Mitchell as she uses her folk songwriting techniques with an electro twist on 'Love Profusion'. 'Love Profusion' starts out light and unadorned, until beats build around the guitar she's playing. This time the track is an ode to children as well as Guy Richie."
The Passengerz Remix
12/22/2004
(5 out of 5 stars)

"All the tracks on this CD Single are excellent, especially the rmx. The tracklisting is below plus some comments:

01 Love Profusion : Album Version (3.36) - Good track to be released as a single.

02 Nothing Fails : Radio Edit (3.46) - Basically the album ver. without the choir. Still an excellent track, though.

03 Love Profusion : The Passengerz Remix (7.01) - The main reason to buy this single. It's red hot and nearly on fire!! Much better than the remix on CD2.

Good CD, but if you want more remixes of Love Profusion get the maxi. It includes 3 Ralph Rosario mixes (none on CD 2) plus an extended Passengerz Remix (not this one). However, to have all the remixes of Love Profusion you need a total of 3 CDs.

(All Love Profusion Singles).

1. UK CD 1 (This one).

2. UK CD 2.

3. Maxi.

Thanx."
