THE MADONNA MUST-HAVE CD SINGLE!
12/25/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)
"This is by far the Madonna MUST-HAVE CD single because of a couple reasons. Firstly, the song "Angel" which was a decent hit back in 1985 is an extended version on this CD. The ending is extended and has a cool false live clapping beat to it. I never heard a song remixed to sound live before till this mix. Also. the second song is Madonna's ground-breaking classic dance anthem "Into The Groove", but this CD contains the ORIGINAL UNREMIXED 1985 version!! The original Into The Groove is far and away the best version of the song. If you love Madonna, particularly her 1980's music, you'll be so glad you purchased this CD single!!!"
Typical Madonna From The Early Years

"After her smash hit second album Like A Virgin, Madonna was becoming a bigger star by the month. Millions of teenage fans idolised her around the world, and she managed to continue releasing excellent pop songs that became massive hits and earnt her more fans. In September 1985, Madonna released the fourth single from her Like A Virgin album - Angel. It peaked at No.5 in the UK and spent nine weeks on the chart.
Angel begins with a catchy and light beat that grows more irresistible as the song progresses. Madonna then giggles before beginning her singing. The first verse is very simple and short like most of her early songs. We are then treated to the bridge, before the chorus begins with the simple lyrics "Oooh...you're an Angel" which are repeated three times before the conclusion to the chorus, "In disguise...I can see it in your eyes." The second verse then breezes along effortlessly, as does the second bridge and chorus as the synthesiser becomes more prominent and Madonna's vocals have more of a variety to them. There's also a great solo halfway through with the synthesiser, before Madonna picks up where she left off by singing some of the song's best lines, "Now I believe that dreams come true, 'cos you came when I wished for you. This just can't be coincidence, the only way that this makes sense is that ooh...you're an angel!" OK, the lyrics are a bit corny but they're pure 80's pop fun and always manage to bring back memories. The song ends with Madonna's vocals on a high, and they always manage to provoke crazy memories of my childhood in my mind - even if I wasn't born until three years after the song was released!
The video to Angel is somewhat of a disappointment. Madonna was obviously too busy in America with her Virgin Tour, so we were forced to put up with a compilation of clips from Madonna's early videos (Borderline, Like A Virgin, Material Girl) that made up the 'video' to Angel. Despite the awful video, you have a fairly decent pop song on your hands here, and while it's definitely not the best of her early work, it's still a good pop song that can be listened to over and over."
A Must-Have!!

"This cd has only two songs on it, but is well worth your purchase.
Track One is the Extended Dance Mix of Angel, which is okay. It is pretty much the same as the orginal, but longer and has a false clapping sound, like it is live.
TRACK TWO: The main reason to buy this cd!!!
INTO THE GROOVE, the orginal version, that appeared on the movie Depsretley Seeking Susan. This version is by far much better than the Immaculate collection one or the You can Dance Version.
This cd is worth 12.99 just for Track Two. Do not hesitate about buying it!!!!"
Into the classic sound groove!

"i love both songs and they are both rare and this single is truly a collectible dance hit from madonna. i have nothing against the songs in this cd. what i'm after is the quality of the sound recorded. it never sounded a cd to me. it seems that i'm playing my recorded tapes as it sounded like one. i hope warner remasters this and make it sound like a cd. a vinyl will even sound better. but for any madonna fan, its still a must have. go buy just the same like i did."
