"For all you rap illiterates out there, I'll let you in on a little secret that D-Dott (Madd Rapper) doesn't want you to know....

Kanye West made most of these beats. That's what kanye meant by "I used to produce for D-Dott on the low" from the College Drop Out CD. See, back when he couldn't catch a break he made beats for other producers who stole his fire and never let his name out.

The other secret is that 50 Cent's first major song appears on this CD. He put this dis out (How to Rob) about...well...pretty much every hot rapper at the time. This was his first big break, and then he got shot 9 times and disappeared until Eminem found him years later.

Bottom line - if you want a little piece of Hip-Hop history before they hit main stream, then please buy this album.

Take The "Madd" And Replace It With "Wack"... {2.5 Stars}

"Respect due to Deric "D-Dot" Angelettie for building a nice portfolio on the producer tip, but his career as a rapper was dead before it ever took off. With the exception of Eminem and 50 Cent, every guest appearance on the album is weak (yes, including Busta Rhymes). The lowest point is when Puff Daddy comes through to spread his wackness on "How We Do". It's easily the worst song on the album. In short, lazy hooks, wack rhymes, and sleep inducing production keep this LP from being worthy of any kind of serious buzz (which is why it was all but ignored). And if all that wasn't bad enough, every skit on this album is, you guessed it, the Madd Rapper running the same skits that can be found on any bad boy album. The joints simply ain't funny no more. Basically, he bled the turnip dry.

There a few highlights sprinkled throughout the album. "Stir Crazy" is a nice track that features Eminem ripping it -- I wish he would rip somethin' nowadays. "Ghetto" features a nice verse from Raekwon and some smooth crooning from Carl Thomas. Also, 50 Cent's "How To Rob" can be found at the very end. It's worth a few listens if you can make that far to the end of the album.

Tell 'Em Why U Madd is pretty much a skit that somehow manifested itself into an album. By the time this came out, people were pretty much tired of the Madd Rapper thing being milked. This album is only good if it was intended to be a comedy album. I guess the album sales reflected just how much the people cared about him being mad. I recommend passing on this album. That is, of course, unless you want to hear what Eminem rapped like when he was still nice behind the mic. Otherwise.....avoid, avoid, avoid.
