Maazel has impressive style on the violin

"I heard a violinist on the radio playing some Kreisler, and thought the style to be full of flavor, in a way that is processed out of most violinists you hear today. When the announcer said that it was Lorin Maazel, I was tickled. I had read somewhere that he released a CD playing violin, but didn't give it a second thought. When I heard him on the radio, I thought that he clearly had some lovely thoughts to express through the fiddle. I'm going to put it on my wish list. Many are familiar with his robust conducting career, and the NY Philharmonic's current satisfaction with him, but who knew he was such a violinist?"
