Collins, CO United States | 08/15/2005 (5 out of 5 stars) "This album is the US release (by Geneon Entertainment) of Maaya Sakamoto's first single collection "Hotchpotch". Originally released in late 1999, it contains most of Maaya's early singles - almost entirely anime-related songs. For anyone getting into Japanese pop or anime music, Maaya is one of the strongest and most recognizible voices in the buisness and this album is a great one to start out with. The album contains a lot of strong tracks including the Esscflowne theme "Yakusoku wa Iranai" along with almost all the other Escaflowne insert songs and several great songs (like "Bokura no Rekishi") from other anime. In addition it has several original tracks only availiable on this collection. It's a great album and at the new low US-release price (rather than the $30 Japanese sticker), it's a great deal." The songs are sweet and soft, with original melodies composed by the keen Yoko Kanno, who is also the producer of the album.
