"This is a MUST-HAVE not only for the Cuban music lover, but for everyone who loves good music. In the tradition of, and (in my opinion) paying homage to the Cuban "soneros" Miguel Matamoros, Sindo Garay, Rafael Hernandez and Eliseo Grenet (just to mention some), Miriam Bayard, with her clear and powerful voice, makes an incredibly fresh approach on such classics as "Lágrimas Negras", "Cachita" and "Capullito de Alhelí", as well as on some more contemporary compositions by, unfortunately not so well-known but very talented Cuban song writers as the late Polo Montañez. If you never heard of Joseito Fernández' "Guajira Guantanamera" this is a great opportunity to find out why this song inmortalized him.
This 12-track disc is a party in itself; it makes you feel it's a gathering of friends over a "lechón asado" and a couple of beers; it takes you back to the "barrio" you grew up and brings back memories of really good times.
The disc runs so smoothly that you can barely feel the break between songs and, when it's over, you wish it could go on for a little more..just another song, please!!...
Great design, great arrangements and great musicians...a pleasure to listen to...You will not be dissappointed!!!
