Synopsis

Album Description
Five years in the making Northern Lights is 11 laid-back ?Ibizian? (or just plain relaxed) afternoons rolled into one album. The more on the ball amongst you may have noticed that all tracks on the album are named after different types of cannabis? Take a look! Rumor has it that each track was written and recorded whilst sampling said ?herbs? and reflects the moods of the writers at the time so is also a true smokers delight. Tying all this together the album also includes poignant sleeve notes from Howard Marks (aka Mr Nice ? the most celebrated purveyor of cannabis ever) and his musings on the effects the weed has on the way we listen to music. Not just a concept album Northern Lights is a serious musical piece and takes in areas from downtempo, blissful, beatless tracks to laid-back house and lazy drum & bass.

Holdings Angels...

""Holding Angels", that's what it feels like whenever I listen to this cd. Lux is the production team of James Bright and Steve Miller, both are no strangers when it comes to Ibiza and it's ambient/chill/lounge music scene. If you are a fan of the whole "chill/lounge" sound, then you may be familiar with Steve Miller's work, he has previously released two albums, Speck of Gold and Simplicity/2000, but his most recent work is entitled "The Afterlife Lounge", all were released under his production name "Afterlife".

Both producers have been putting out music as "Lux" for quite some time now, many of their songs have been featured on countless compilations like the Cafe del Mar and Real Ibiza series. Even so, their work as Lux extends far beyond this album, "Jello", a non-album track is featured on The Afterlife Lounge, while "Haja O Que Houver", a Madredeus track, is remixed by Lux and is featured on the Madredeus Electronico album.

Every track has a different flavour of its own, each track is said to have been "inspired" by variants of a specific "herb", yet, the album consistently follows a perfectly chilled atmosphere from start to finish. Regardless, it is on this cd, their "debut" album, that things come full circle and the talents of both producers truely shine, this is an absolute chill/lounge masterpiece from beginning to end. This is a fine collection of smooth, ambient songs that you can enjoy morning, day, or especially late at night.

Additionally, if you buy the Japanese import version of this cd you will be treated to alternate album art, and an exclusive bonus track, the Afterlife remix of 100 Billion Stars."

"WONDERFUL!! THE FIRST TIME I HEARD THE SONG, 'NORTHERN LIGHTS', WAS ON WSJT. DIDN'T CATCH THE BAND'S NAME. EMAILED THE STATION TO GET THE NAME. CHECKED AMAZON.COM, NEW ALBUM COMING OUT BY LUX. HAD TO WAIT, WHAT WSJT PLAYED WAS ON A MIXED ALBUM. GLAD I DID, I BELIEVE THIS IS LUX'S FIRST ALBUM. VERY UNIQUE, GOOD JOB. THANK YOU LUX!!"
