"This CD has the best of Luther. Most of the other "Greatest hits" CD's don't have all of the great songs but his one does. I highly recommend it."

"This past year, we have arguably heard of the tragic death of one of R&B's most elequent vocalists, Luther Vandross. Although he has been one of the many singers who has thrived and deliver a beautiful collection of songs, there has been very few definitive reflections of his career. Although there have been numerous hits albums from 1998's Always & Forever: The Classics, and the 1999 Greatest Hits record, there seems like there are too many to go around. Now, with his 2006 hits record, The Ultimate Luther Vandross, many diw hard fans have felt a bit short changed on what they've wanted. Well, the previously titled record with the same name, might be something that would suit die hard fans, as much as newcomers to the soulful songster from New York.
The 2001 Ultimate Luther Vandross, is a well-rendered single disc reflection of his efforts during his Sony era. The songs here highlight some of his best material of the 80's and 90's as a great vocalist. The music here has been all restored well, and delivers nicely. The album insludes so many great tracks from Here & Now, Power Of Love/Love Power, the soulful Don't Want To Be A Fool, and many other great tracks. The collection also includes tracks overshadowed from the 2006 collection like Stop To Love, Love The One You're With, and If This World Were Mine with Got To Be Real singer Cheryl Lynn. Although the album does still overlook a few great Luther tracks like How Many Times Can We Say Goodbnye with Dionne Warwick, and Endless Love with Mariah Carey, those tracks were still shines as bright as possible.
All in all, The 2001 Ultimate Luther Vandross fairs a bit better as a single disc retrospective of his longtime career, than better, longer ones like the 2003 Essential Luther Vandross, this album is a more inexpensive, and delightful package of his music that shines nicely, for anyone who doesn't own a Luther record. I love these songs a whole lot, like Luther's songs, this record it truly is a reason to stop to love.

"This is a very well put together collection for those who don't want to wallow through 2 CDs of other Luther Vandross compilations. They keep it to 17 songs and 76 minutes with this one, but it is entertaining all throughout. This concentrates more on Luther's danceable hits like Stop to Love, The Rush, Power of Love, Give Me the Reason, Never Too Much while keeping the ballad mode strong with A House Is Not A Home, If This World Were Mine, There's Nothing Better Than Love, Don't Want To Be A Fool and others. All throughout, Luther's velvety voice flows through on all of these wonderful songs. I bought this on July 2nd, the day after Luther had passed away, and I'm very fortunate to have gotten it and to be playing it. This album and a lot of best ofs will continue to sell like crazy for a long time to come. Luther Vandross was one of the all time greats in popular music."
Luther is great.

"First off, Luther is an excellent R&B singer. I love his music, but let me set G.J. Weiner or whoever the hell, straight. Whitney Houston is no doubt the best female singer! She does not wail her music, she sings them with soul and passion. That's probably something that you will never know anything about! Luther and Whitney are singers that don't need to lip sync for a living like these so called singers nowadays. So, get it right. Anyone who buys this Luther album will not be sorry. It is great."
