Primal Scream meets Spiritualized

"It's hard to achieve a sound that hasn't been heard before. Lupine Howl try to attempt this by combining the aggression of Primal Scream's last album with the Spiritualized hallmark tone of melancholic window-gazing and dark sensitivity. What you get, in the end, is a solid expression of late-twenties, early-thirties angst and frustration sprinkled with dark and moody melodies that evoke a haunting, even possessive, tone. Decidely progressive, Lupine Howl have aimed for a target about thirty feet in front of us in hopes we'll all make the exodus there. For that, they deserve your ear."

"Lupine Howl is made up of three former members of Spiritualized, guitarist Mike Mooney,bassist/vocalist Sean Cook and drummer Damon Reece.'..Carnivorous...' combines trippy psychedelic, krautrock and white soul,of which in this case is a good thing.Notice that bassist Sean Cook's vocals do sound similar to that of Jason Pierce's.Tunes I was most impressed with would be "Sniff The Glue",the somewhat bluesy "125","Sometimes"(the CD's second longest track)and "The Jam That Ate Itself".Gets better with each play.Might appeal to some fans of My Bloody Valentine,Spiritualized,The Strokes and Wire."

"They say that imitation is the best form of flattery, but sometimes placing your own spin on a style/sound can actually create something more creative and unique. Lupine Howl jumps on Spritualized's earlier spacey albums, eg, Laser Guided Melodies, and adds twists of funk, rock, and psychadelia. Perhaps this is the path Spiritualized would've taken if they didn't go up the symphonic epic and gospel choir route. Lupine Howl still retains alot of the essence of early Spiritualized, yet has more diversity and scope. Spiritualized is about travelling through space; Lupine Howl also takes a similar route, yet changes it's musical course at every planetary stop."
