Isnogud-der-Grosswesir | Hamburg, Germany | 03/27/2004 (5 out of 5 stars) "I found this recording quite by chance and as I am a great fan of Christa Ludwig, I jumped at the chance of getting yet another of her many "faces". This said, I didn't expect too much; the label was unknown to me as was the opera and as I have had rather unpleasant experiences with "live" recordings, I awaited the arrival with mixed feelings. However, I was VERY surprised to receive a 2CD set with extensive notes as to the opera and the singers and simply MAGNIFICENT sound, it almost sounds a studio recording and not a live recording from the Wiener Staatsoper anno 1974. Also the cast is fantastic, Bonisolli and Taddei are well-known and established singers as is Madame Ludwig but also the rest were a joy.HIGHLY recommendable - 5 stars from Hamburg !"
