A wonderful Coltrane tribute

"Tusziji Munoz, that iconoclastic guitar hero, is always worth hearing. Here, in a super session with Bob Moses (drums), George Garzone and Jerry Bergonzi (saxes), John Medeski (piano), and John Lockwood & Wesley Wirth (bass), he shines with an intense heat and blinding light.
Munoz, with his deep concern for spirituality, is perhaps the ultimate Coltrane interpreter. And this session is the best kind of tribute: sounding little if anything like the master, but totally tracking with his vibe. Featuring only one Coltrane number ("Naima," one of Coltrane's signature tunes), it nevertheless breathes and exudes a most profound spirit of perhaps the ultimate jazzman.
There's a wild energy, an iconoclastic abandon, all over this disc. A casual listen may render a judgment of aural chaos. A closer listen will reveal all sorts of amazing auditory blessings.
In short, this is one of those serendipitous sessions that can only happen in the world of jazz: Powerful, healing, mesmeric, iconic, declamatory music of the highest order.
Eminently worth checking out."
