"In this writer's opinion, Jeff Lynne owes much of ELO's success to three men: ELO keyboardsman Richard Tandy; ELO bassist and co-lead vocalist Kelly Groucutt; and Louis Clark. For those who don't know, Louis Clark's "claims to fame" are that he's the man who: (1) brought you "Hooked on Classics" in the 1980s; and (2) provided the string and choral arrangements on ELO's "classic" albums, as well as conducted the symphony with which ELO recorded those albums. This album was written and recorded in between ELO's "Out of the Blue" and "Discovery" albums, and it shows. (One listen to this album, and you know that "Mr. Blue Sky" was as much a Louis Clark creation as it was a Jeff Lynne creation!) Listening to this album provides one with a new appreciation for just how much those albums owe to Clark.Perhaps it's Clark, and not Jeff Lynne, whom we should all be celebrating."
