History isn't always bad

""Best of" collections often aren't true to label ... I mean it's all subjective, isn't it? Well, this is a 'best of' that probably is ... there are some tracks not there that I'd like to see, as well as a couple I don't think should be there - but that's what we expect from any compilation. On a whole though, this is a great collection of tracks taken from the high moments of an amazing and long career. The remastering is good - the stereo image is terrific - the live tracks are almost of studio quality, and the piano in one of these just blew me away!
I'm not going to tell you what the tracks are like individually - if you are a Reed fan you already know, and if you want to become a Reed fan it'll be fun to find out ... all I can advise is that if you think you want this collection - buy it...you can't go wrong."

"This was my introduction to Lou Reed and the compilation is very well done. It hits all the classics and is one of the few Lou Reed compilations to have "Street Hassle," "No Money Down," and "Romeo Had Juliette" However, it does skip the #1 alternative track "What's Good" as almost all Lou Reed compilations do. Also, I was expecting the live tracks to be taken from the Rock N Roll Animal disc but they unfortunately are NOT. They must be from a recent Australian tour. While they're very good, I wanted the classic live tracks"
