"Los Hermanos is currently my favorite brazilian band. They are fantastic. Ventura is their third album and it brings beautifully composed, written and arranged songs. Ventura and Bloco DO Eu Sozinho are, in my opinion, cds that everyone should listen to. Los Hermanos's sound is unique, mixing mpb, samba, rock, pop and more to create music that really is, if not always exciting, very emotional. If you are a music fan, like me, you should try this one. I think this band deserves a lot more recognition inside and outside of Brazil, so please give this one a try.
Favorite songs: O Vencedor (creative, exciting, and beautiful) , Ultimo Romance (beautiful song), A Outra (took long to really like this song, now I love it), Cara Estranho (the album's firts worksong, very, very good), o velho e o moço (beautiful, especially if you know portuguese), Deixa o Verão (along with O Vencedor, the most exciting song in this CD, among my top favorites in the disc), conversa de botas batidas (as pleasant as pop music gets), do lado de dentro (beautiful and excitingly well arranged), Um Par (emotional, exciting, well arranged, etc), De onde vem a calma (the best way to end a cd). The rest of the songs are also nearly perfect, so there is no use in listing my favorites.
I also strongly recommend O Bloco Do Eu Sozinho, wich is their best CD in my opinion."

"Brazil doesn't have a very big indie-rock scene, but this album is certainly one of the best you can find. If you like Los Hermanos, you might also try Monokini, who are also very good."
Los Hermanos- A very creative Brazilian Band

"Hello: To start with. I am not brazilian, i am argentinian and i live in miami Florida. So my critic of this album is very fair.
Los Hermanos, as other great bands have reached their perfect balance with their 3rd album.(remember Ok Computer, War and so on)
They are quite creative. But the greatest thing is "They take music seriously", and thank god. Not too!!!seriously.
I will not go in a one by one description of the songs, but i recommend this album to anyone who really listens to music in a deeper way.
They have great taste for the mixes, as well as arranging.
They are a little bit ironic. But not too ironic.
The version of "Cara estranho" on the album. I don't believe is their best. It was the most played single in brazil. So i guess that is why they went for the "Punk-hard rock chorussy mix".
If you get to listen to any of it's versions as unplugged (you might find it the net, as i did). I recommend you very much to listen to them unplugged because many songs are much better in that ambience.
Ok, so resuming. Buy this CD, if you like rock, if you like music as strange as it could be. Then buy it.
It is not the best brazilian record ever. But it's a great album. It is something different. And that's what counts.

"This album is flat out great. Catchy, interesting, fun. And there's a horn section. Can't beat that."

"I really love this band! I picked up this cd not knowing what to expect, to be honest because I have not heard much about Los Hermanos. I just knew that they were a popular band in Brazil. After listening to the cd I was pleasantly surprised, and now I'm a huge fan. I enjoy alternative music(grunge, punk etc;) and Brazilian music so I was surprised to learn of a band that melded the two together wonderfully. They're comparable to some of the so-called "great" alt-indy bands in the states, but they manage to incorporate traditional Brazilian elements into their album (as the addition of the live horn section.) The lead singer's voice is emotional and sexy (with that right balance of angst) as found in some of the best grunge bands that came out of Britain and America.
My favorites off of this album are "Samba a Dois," "Ultimo Romance," "A Outra" and "Cara Estranho" but the other songs on the album are also great. For me, having punk and brazilian beats mixed in are like having my favorite candies blended together to come up with a surprisingly great new combination. If you love alt/indy and Brazilian music as I do, check this band out they're great!"
