A new century brings change to punk rock

"There has been a change goin' on. The multitudes of abhorrent pop-punk bands, once catapulted to star status thanks to platinum-selling acts like Green Day and Offspring, have all but bitten the dust. Sure, some still remain, but those that have are changing. They aren't as caught up in that generic Epitaph/Fat sound that gets REALLY tiresome after about the 2nd song. The Lonely Kings are a prime example of how GOOD pop-punk can be, here in the 21st century. No more skateboards, no more songs about hamburgers and high-school, these guys break the pop-punk mold with a mature songwriting style along with some very talented tunes. A lot of pop-punk bands nowadays have tempered their previously light-speed songs with a slower, almost emo-oriented, direction. These guys sound like the perfect blend of latter-day Face To Face, Jawbreaker, and Social Distortion. Conventional enough to draw in many fans, but diverse enough to entertain them ALL once they get there. I would call it a minor miracle that this CD is as good as it is, but it definitely is. No 10th generation Bad Religion riffs, or 8th generation Ramones-clones. Just unique, punchy, melodic, pop-punk. Thank the punk rock gods for these guys. We need more bands today like them today."

"I have been going to Lonely Kings shows for years and each time they get better! This CD is an awesome record; very well thought out and done. A great mix of punk/rock and even a little emo. The Lonely Kings are one of the only great bands left. They are extremely entusiastic, support the local scene and are nice guys in general. If you want a awesome album from a bunch of cool guys give this CD a whirl! Keep the Santa Cruz scene going!"
