Synopsis

Product Description
On their 2007 debut Don't Make Me Wait, unsigned Wisconsin natives, Locksley found success with a fresh and exciting mix of garage-pop and brit-rock. The band's follow-up album finds them exploring their American musical roots with bits of Swing, 50's Doo-Wop, 60's Soul and early American-Punk coming together to create something uniquely and confidently their own. The four-piece band, brothers Jesse and Jordan Laz (rhythm guitar and bass respectively), Kai Kennedy (lead guitar) and Sam Bair (drums) are very excited about the new material. 'We've broadened and narrowed our outlook on this album' Jesse remarked. 'We added a third vocalist and songwriter in Jordan, which was big, and we were listening to and pulling from a larger variety of music than before. At the same time, we cut a lot of fat in our parts and tightened up the arrangements quite a bit so the album ends up feeling more focused than the last one, even though it's spread out over more voices.' Locksley has toured with Ray Davies and have had two cuts deemed Coolest Song in the World on Little Stevens Underground Garage.

CD Reviews

In Love

"After listening to Locksley's second full album, Be In Love, and seeing the band perform live at their CD release party in early March, I find this new album to be a major achievement for pop/rock music.

It is true that music can be important and meaningful - personally, artistically, or politically. I would argue that Locksley accomplishes some of these ends with the musically and lyrically engaging Be In Love, but I expect this significance to be widely debated among critics.

However, it is also true that rock music should be fun. A simple claim, but absolute. It was once an emotional and physical release, to be enjoyed and shared. "We came here to meet girls and dance but we can't meet girls until we dance!" It is undeniable that Be In Love achieves this end, and exceptionally well. I defy you to listen to the album without smiling, nodding or moving your body once. The vocals are large and tight, the beats enticing, and the guitars dynamic and visceral.

The energy of the album is magnified by Locksley's live performance, where the fun spreads infectiously and symbiotically between the stage and the audience. This band loves to make music, they love to perform, they love to please the crowd, and the crowd loves to be pleased. Such concentrated joy is beautiful to behold and to be a part of. Locksley makes music fun, undeniably and exceptionally, and the value of this feat should not be underestimated. Music can be fun and meaningful, meaningful because it is fun.

I love this album. Do not play it for a rainy, depressing day, or while smoking weed in a dark room. Do play it while driving in your car, walking in the sun, at your sister's wedding reception, your backyard barbecue, or your little brother's graduation (etc). Be in love."

"Being a huge fan of their first independently released album, the outstanding- Don't Make Me Wait, I had some fear that this great young band from NYC, via Wisconsin, might falter some...boy was I wrong !!!!! "Be In Love" is a fantastic-perfect evolutionary progression from the frist album...without losing any of the stuff that made that first album legendary. "Be In Love" rocks in spots, it's melodic in spots, it's passionate, gritty, colorful, and above all it's some of the best power-pop-rock out there today!! If you're a lover of great rock-n-roll and sick of the dribble that spews from today's top-forty...then BUY THIS NOW!!! You won't regret it!! You can get the download version here...or do what I did, go to the Locksley website and buy a couple of hard copies...for $[...] each they were a steal !!! I have seen the future of great rock-n-roll folks...and it's LOCKSLEY !!!!!

"If you haven't listened to any of these songs before, give them a listen NOW! These guys just keep generating hit after hit. These are quality musicians, and incredibly talented entertainers. I have a good feeling that we'll be hearing a lot more good tunes coming from the group in the years to come."
