"a beautiful and sensitive guitar driven album. what can i say, lloyd cole speaks for me and other terminally romantic and lonely people that look love. but somehow it always ends up slipping out of our hands. i dont have a favorite because all the songs are special.....buy it if you are a lloyd fan or if you are a person that enjoys a good, sad, and great album!"
A quieter, more thoughtful outing for Cole

"This is a "lost album," that is to say the one he couldn't sell to the record companies. He's put it out on his own, and it's wonderful. It hangs together much better than its cobbled together origins give it a right to. Maybe not the place for the uninitiated to discover why he has maintained such a loyal fan base, but worthwhile for anyone interested in the craft of songwriting."

"With the airwaves dominated by dancing Barbie dolls, I guess I should not be surprised that the record company did not like this album -- it is not loud, it is not flashy. The songs on "Etc." are small, charming, thoughtful, well-written, delightful. My only complaint is that the album is so short. For a real treat, buy the entire 2001 box set."
