"This is a monumental, historical live recording between two of the best classic rock singers in the business. Both have impressive resumes and have been in the same band at different periods. Glenn Hughes, incredible voice of Trapeze, Deep Purple, Sabbath, John Norum, Voodoo Hill and countless others as been singing nearly 30 years. His co-hort, Joe Lynn Turner hasn't been in the business (professionally speaking) that long, but has a rich history of being another Deep Puple Alumni, as well as in Rainbow and Malmsteens band, as well as an extended catalog of solo and guest appearances. So the pairing of these two RAWK titans sounds great, and there studio album released earlier this year is excellent. Live they are again spectacular, or atleast let it sound like they can be. This CD recording does nothing for me. Trust me, I love Hughes, Turner, all their past projects, including their live offerings, but this just doesn't hit you over the head. The setlist is great full of Purple/Rainbow songs as well as songs from their HTP CD, and backing musicians are fine (especially the Japanese guitar player, who carbon copies Richie's playing almost to a 'T').
It's just Glenn's voice is sort of grounded in the mix, and he just really can't be heard (to what I am use to hearing him live). JLT is good, but again suffering from the same low vocal mix problem. The overall sound is a D, could of been better, the performance is a solid B. Like I said everyone is in fine condition, it just doesn't sound like a live recording."
